I have made it my duty to work for Shipley in Westminster and not for Westminster in Shipley; I am working for your interest, not self-interests. Above all, I will always put my constituents' interest above my political career, therefore, I am in the constituency on a regular basis and I am available to hear your concerns.
Thank you also to everyone who has taken the time to send me kind congratulations messages; your continued support is very much appreciated.
I will continue to do my best for all of my constituents including those who did not vote for me.
Since 1997:
- Unemployment is up by 14.4% in the Shipley constituency
- Violent crime is up 44%
- 6 million new immigrants into the country
BRITAIN DESERVES BETTER:
Economy
We will make sure that we once again live within our means and only spend what we can afford
Crime
We will prevent prisoners being released earlier than the courts stipulate
Immigration
We will put an annual limit on the number of people who can come to live in this country and have a proper Border Police Force to reduce immigration by 75%
Welfare
We will make sure that the welfare state is there to help people when they need it but not trap people into a life on benefits; and we will support people who do the right thing
Philip handed all of his claims and receipts since he was elected in 2005 to the Bradford Telegraph and Argus and asked them to go through them all, and he also invited them round to the one bedroom flat in Lambeth where he stays in London. The T&A published their report into Philip’s expenses on 13 May 2009 (article – I am not on the gravy train, insists MP).
In their comment section on Philip’s expenses the Bradford Telegraph and Argus wrote
“As far as we can tell, not only is he sticking to the rules but also to the spirit of the rules in claims relating to his London accommodation – which seems far from palatial…we look forward to our other MPs publishing similar information to Mr Davies so that all our readers have a clear picture of the moral compass that guides them in such matters”
Philip said “If anyone wishes to discuss my expenses or MPs expenses more generally in more detail with me I am more than happy to meet with anyone who wishes to do so”
- Always put your interests before self-interest
- Always be honest about my views on issues even if they differ from Party policy
- Always be available so you can see me or speak to me at a time and place convenient to you
- Hold regular advice surgeries across the whole constituency
- Keep in touch with your priorities through regular surveys, and I will personally read and reply to everyone
- Work hard on your behalf all of the time, not just at election time
- Never accept a promotion so that I can always be free to speak up on your behalf
B.S. - Baildon
“It is good to know we have an MP who gets involved like this!”
J.D. - Cottingley
“It is a great pleasure to hear Philip Davies, who is known in the House for speaking his mind and being forthright, and long may that continue”
Graham Allen, Labour MP for Nottingham North speaking in the House of Commons
“Having made my first ever contact with an MP, I am truly encouraged by your rapid response and willingness to pursue my enquiry”
G.B. - Bingley
“Mr. Davies should stick to his guns. Independent-minded MPs who are prepared to say the unsayable are an asset to the House of Commons”
Bill Carmichael, Yorkshire Post
“He would never do what the whips asked him to do even if they did bother to ask him.”
